Stop by stop, I’ve been checking out the holiday decor and gingerbread displays at Disney’s Deluxe Resorts — check out our previous snapshots from the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Boardwalk. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the miniature Christmas village found at Disney’s Yacht Club this holiday season.
Upon walking into the Yacht Club’s lobby, you’re greeted with a floor-to-ceiling Christmas tree filled with nautical touches: sail boats, globes, ropes and ribbons. Garland with matching ornaments and decor are hanging from just about every bannister and column within the lobby.
While there’s no sweet-smelling/looking gingerbread display to take in at Disney’s Yacht Club, I did find myself lingering around the lobby for longer than originally planned. The darker, moodier tones of the lobby makes a nice backdrop against yellow twinkling lights and the warm glow coming from the Christmas village display.
The entire display sits on layered snow banks, and a toy train chugs along the tracks. One side boasts a traditional Christmas village theme, while the other includes a lot more Disney-specific touches.
You’ll find a lighthouse accompanied by a custom-made Beaches & Cream sign, a nod to the Yacht & Beach Club’s beloved ice cream parlor.
My favorite, tiniest of details can be found by the stone bridge, where an elf is giving a pair of Mickey ears to a polar bear:
Along one of the sides are moving ski gondolas, adding a little more kinetic energy to the miniature display.
Switching to the other larger side of the display, you’ll find golden-Mickey topped Christmas trees, candy houses, and Mickey Mouse, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and Santa Claus in their own snowy village scenes.
This year’s holiday display at Disney’s Yacht Club is fairly simple in nature (I mean, compared to all of those intricate “edible” gingerbread displays!), but you could easily spend a good amount of time taking in the smallest of details while the little train choo-choos around! Are you planning on visiting any of Disney’s deluxe resorts this holiday season?
