Magic Kingdom - Astro Orbiter
|Restaurants and Shops|
Originally known as Star Jets, this ride became the Astro Orbiter in 1994. This attraction takes you spinning high over the Magic Kingdom in Buck Rogers style rockets.
This is not for anyone with a fear of heights. Not only can you move your rocket 'up', you have to take an elevator to get to the loading area. The views are great but make no mistake, this is much, much higher than Dumbo.
You'll often see a line for Astro Orbiter. Between taking the elevator and not being able to accommodate a lot of guests per ride, this one requires patience.
Handicapped Accessibility: Wheelchair guests must be able to transfer to the attraction.
Fun Facts: Your Astro Orbiter rocket travels at 11 rotations per minute and averages 1.2 million miles a year!
- Love2663 - "The elevation provides a little more exciting ride than the other Dumbo-stle rides and allows for great views of the park and the Contemporary."
- AnninIowa - "I give this a 7, as it's great for children and gives everyone a wonderful view of Tomorrowland. However, the loading time can be very long. Also, the cars are very tight for adults needing leg room."
