Since opening in 1971 Walt Disney World has seen many changes. Attractions have come and go, but some proved that they could withstand the test of time. While Walt Disney World isn’t a museum these older attractions give us the nostalgic feel that we love so much about the Disney parks. The legacy of these attractions has put them in a category above the rest. Here are the 3 reasons to appreciate classic Disney World attractions:
3) You’re Honoring A Legacy
Some of these attractions are skipped by guests, but by skipping them you are doing a disservice to yourself. Many of these classic attractions are Walt Disney’s creations. It’s important to honor the legacy of these rides because while “it’s a small world” might be cheesy and simplistic, its success is the reason why we have great new attractions like the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Enjoying these attractions not only for what they are, but what they were, is something only a true Disney fan can say they do.
2) To Keep These Attractions Alive
Without guests riding these attractions Disney will give them less and less attention, and eventually they will close them for good. Being that the Walt Disney Company is here to make money they are only going to spend money on the attractions that guests are actually like riding. Sadly this is why I believe attractions like Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress haven’t been fully updated in over 20 years. By enjoying these attractions you aren’t just letting yourself see a classic Disney attraction, but you’re ensuring that the Walt Disney Company is going to keep that attraction around for future generations. Ride them before it is too late because no petition is going to bring these attractions back once they are gone.
1) To Teach Your Children About These Classic Attractions
Enjoying these attractions with your children is important. Passing your love of these Disney attractions to your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will preserve your Walt Disney World memories. When you compare the Swiss Family Treehouse with the latest Disney attractions it can seem outdated and lackluster, but the attraction is from an era when children didn’t need the entertainment shoved in their faces because the children used their imagination to make the attraction what it is. Teaching your children that same skill might allow you to see them enjoy Walt Disney World the same way you did when you were their age.
